I was looking for inexpensive desk speakers for my home office when I found these. There were slightly less expensive options available, but they were all no-name brands. Altec-Lansing has a good reputation for computer speakers so I decided the extra five bucks was more than worth it. After about three months of use, I have not been disappointed. They are very compact, not so much depth-wise, but definitely height-wise. I love that they are propped up on an angle, which makes it unnecessary to clear a dedicated space on your desk for them - I actually have wires running under one of them. The sound quality is excellent for the size and price - very clear and crisp, never muddled or anything like that. They may not be high fidelity enough to pick up every little detail of every song, but if you're looking for speakers like that, you're probably not looking at these in the first place. The built-in volume wheel is a nice feature because you can leave your computer's volume level alone. Aesthetically, they look great, especially if your other hard ware is black/silver/charcoal, which mine is. I think orange is an odd color choice for an "On" light (on most electronics, orange usually means standby mode) but that's being super nit-picky. All around, these speakers are a great choice as home or office computer speakers with good quality at a great price. 5 stars.

I have not traveled with them and do not plan to, so I cannot speak to that aspect of the product, which seems to be its main point of criticism. Personally, if I were looking for traveling speakers, I would go for taller flat ones over these which are short, but round and relatively deep, which doesn't seem optimal to me for packing.

I purchased these speakers back in April and I use them for my MacBook. You get what you pay for, its a decent speaker quite clear and the sound is good. What does one expect for ? The downside is they are not very compact, so I do carry them only when I am traveling for some days because they are bulky.

The upside is that there is no power cords since they draw their power from the USB port which is fine by me.

These are not compatible with the iPod Touch or lower-end MP3 players since many of them do not have USB ports for external peripherals.

It was a good buy and I use them when watching Hulu or Crackle in my hotel room. I would recommend if you need a decent set of speakers for small price.

These speakers look good, the sound is quite good but the maximum volume is really low. If there is sound in the room, you can barely hear them.
