Good, but not worth the asking price - James Wilson - New Jersey (USA)
I've had this setup for a little over a year now. Curiously, when I ordered it from Cambridge Soundworks (CSW) this configuration didn't even exist; they had the BassCube 821 attached to the MC 105 satellites, and that combo was the Extreme 2.1 system. Back then I thought those satellites would probably be over powered by the sub, so I upgraded to the MC 155's instead. Now it seems CSW has thrown the identical products together and called it the Extreme Gaming 2.1 system. Wonder if I should get royalties... :-)

MC155 Satellite - The speakers feel pretty solid and well made, but the sound quality is not what you might expect for a pair of speakers costing close to 0 dollars (according to CSW's website). The midrange during musical passages is good but voices in movies and TV programs sound a bit muddy. "Heavy" almost. The treble is very weak though; cymbals, acoustic guitars, the whistle of a bullet in movies, etc. lack any crispness or "sizzle", and end up sounding washed out or even non-existent. All-in-all, these speakers lack definition or sparkle.

BassCube 821 Subwoofer - Amazingly small subwoofer, which measures about 10" cubed. The down-firing woofer element is completely exposed, making it vulnerable to everything. The cabinet has some decent heft to it, so it's probably made from sturdy materials. It's a sealed enclosure, as opposed to a tuned port design, so the bass does not get as low as it might, but for the most part it's clear and accurate. It's very sensitive to placement which, if done wrong, makes the sound a bit unpleasant and strained. Placing it on carpet is a bad idea, unless you put the sub on a piece of wood or something too. It's really not strong enough to overcome carpet (the wood helped substantially). It lacks a certain degree of power, but for what it is the little thing can generally hold it's own.

I use this setup primarily as a small cinema speaker system for my TV, but it does get used for music on occasion. Based on the price I think it's only worth 2-3 stars; the high frequencies are too weak, and the bottom end could use a bit more power as well, but depending upon your needs this might work. Gaming, however, is not something I can vouch for, because I've never used it for that.
